The Arches is one of the UK’s leading arts venues, and is housed within seven railway arches underneath Central Station. Originally set up to provide a base for the Arches Theatre Company, it has been home for a range of arts events, including live music concerts, late night dance clubs and festivals, and attracts over 100,000 customers every year.

“Echoes” is an animated programme using computer technology that combines video and images that are photographically etched onto the glazed screens in the six arches throughout the building and illuminated by back LED white lights. The work reflects on the diversity of the activities and audiences within. As the viewer enters and animates the spaces of these interactive environments, the programme and the images are activated in response.
