The City of Edinburgh Council City Chambers

On Tuesday 21st January 2009 The Princess Royal visited The City of Edinburgh Council’s City Chambers following a major conservation project. George Grubb, Lord Lieutenant and Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, led The Princess Royal in a tour of the building.

The tour included new stained glass windows in the refurbished main staircase, commissioned by the City of Edinburgh Council assisted by Art in Partnership. Glass artists Douglas Hogg and Bridget Jones were appointed to create five new windows for the staircase, which were installed in November 2008. Artist Douglas Hogg met The Princess Royal on her tour and spoke to her about his pieces.

The Princess Royal went on to unveil a plaque commemorating the refurbishment, also commissioned by the City of Edinburgh Council from artist Bridget Jones.
