New public Centre for Livingston opens

On the 16th of October 2008 Livingston’s new £130million shopping development The Centre opened to the public. Combining new civic and leisure spaces with shopping The Centre aims to create a new public heart for Livingston.

Appointed by developer Land Securities, Art in Partnership worked with the client, architect and design team to commission two integrated artworks for The Centre.

Artist Peter Kogler’s computer generated artwork fills Debenhams’ massive first floor windows at the highly visible north-east corner of their site and acts as a powerful landmark and beacon for the new development.

Sasha Wards’ series of floor to ceiling decorative glass panels introduce colour, movement and interest to one of the most important circulation corridors at the heart of The Centre.
