Art in Partnership was appointed by Land Securities as art consultants for its new £130million extension to Livingston’s Almondvale Shopping Centre - designed by award-winning designers Building Design Partnership (BDP).

Opened in October 2008, The Centre is one of Europe's largest indoor shopping complexes whose new civic and leisure spaces have created a new public heart for the town.

Art in Partnership worked with the client and design team to identify opportunities for involving artists in the new development, a process that resulted in the commissioning of two innovative and ambitious artworks.

Artist Peter Kogler’s computer generated artwork fills Debenhams’ massive first floor windows at the highly visible north-east corner of their site and acts as a powerful landmark and beacon for the new development.

Kogler’s striking design and intense colours have created a distinctive signature piece for The Centre. Highly visible to pedestrians and motorists on the main access route to the centre the piece will be a major landmark and act as a beacon, literally shining jewel-like after dusk.

Sasha Ward's series of floor to ceiling decorative glass panels introduce colour, movement and interest to one of the most important circulation corridors at the heart of The Centre.
